Questions About HCG

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. HCG is a natural hormone found in the body of every woman when she is pregnant. Its purpose is to burn fat to supply energy to the developing baby if the mother is not eating. It’s the “fail safe” device to protect both mother and child. Learn More »
HCG is completely natural. It works the same in men and women by burning “unhealthy” fat around the abdomen, back, butt and legs as opposed to burning “healthy” fat or protein. This occurs when calories are reduced to between 500 to 800 calories a day. Learn More »
Whenever considering a weight loss program, consult with your health care provider. Dr. Lipman is available to speak with you or your own physician, especially if he is not acquainted with HCG. Do not use HCG if you are pregnant, plan to get pregnant soon, or are nursing.
Since HCG is a natural product there are few, if any side effects. Some people experience edginess, mild headaches and dizziness in the beginning. After a few days almost all side effects disappear. The HCG diet has been on the market for more than 55 years and is used by millions all over the world. All of the issues you might have read about HCG concern effectiveness, not safety. Everyone agrees that it is safe. Leran More »
HCG can be used by just about anyone from 18 to 80. Other than some cancers (see below) there are no other medical problems that might affect the HCG diet or health issues affected by the HCH hormone itself. In addition, there are no known interactions between HCG and any prescription medication.
Yes, men find great success in using HCG for weight loss. Learn More »
Yes, the HCG diet using Dr. Lipman’s preparations fortified with amino acids, African mango or raspberry ketones is ideal for people with a slower metabolism, such as people over 60 or women in menopause. Take a look at “Which HCG Product is for Me” to find the right product for your individual needs. Learn More »
None of these medical problems are affected by the HCG or the HCG food plan. Make sure your
thyroid function is normal. Diabetics often see marked weight loss and improvement in blood sugar with the 800 Calorie HCG Diet. Learn More »
There should be no adverse interactions. You are free to take your usual medications including medications for high blood pressure, thyroid, diabetes, anxiety, high cholesterol and depression.
Antibiotics are safe to take during the HCG diet. Please follow the instructions provided by your physician.
I would advise against taking HCG hormones if you have or had any of these cancers or if you have been advised not to take hormones by your physician. Although there is no connection between HCG and cancer, I suggest NOT taking HCG if you have had cancer of the breast, uterus or ovaries. Consult your physician.
It is best to ask your health care provider. It is known that HCG is naturally produced by women during pregnancy and menstruation. However, I would advise against it.
HCG has not been shown to interfere with birth control. Also, the plan has no increased risk of pregnancy.
Women who are pregnant sould not take HCG. If you become pregnant during the diet, stop taking HCG and consult your physician.
HCG has no affect on future pregnancies.
Dr. Simeons, who invented the HCG diet in 1954, wrote that one should not take the HCG during menses. However, current medical information shows that you do not have to stop taking HCG during menstruation. Learn More »
Dr. Simeons’ original protocol, written more than 55 years ago, advised participants not to use cosmetics. Cosmetics and lotions have changed since then. On a careful review of the literature, I have been unable to find any mention that current cosmetics affect blood sugar, blood lipids or metabolism. I tell my patients, “spend your effort finding foods that please you, satisfy your cravings and hunger, and forget the cosmetic issue.”

Questions About Our HCG Products & Kits

Dr. Lipman has different HCG preparations based on your metabolism. The potent HCG products are for people with normal metabolism. The Superior HCG products are fortified with amino acids, African Mango extracts and/or raspberry ketones. Our interactive product selector will show the best preparation for you.
A one ounce bottle will last at least one month. We always add extra HCG to each bottle; many people have been able to use the one ounce product for an entire 6 week cycle. A half ounce bottle of HCG will last for at least 2 weeks. The HCG comes pre-mixed. Small amounts of alcohol and vegetable glycerin are added to increase oral absorption and as a preservative. Refrigeration is always recommended.
We have two products that have HCG precursors, but not the actual HCG hormone. They are fortified with amino acids, African mango extract and/or raspberry ketones to help burn fat. These products can be taken by anyone and any age, including teens.
Each kit contains the HCG product, Dropper Syringe, Dr. Lipman’s New 800 Calorie HCG Diet User Manual, the 800 Calorie HCG Diet Instructional DVD, HCG Diet Food Plan, Food Tracker, Grocery List, access to download Dr. Lipman’s 100 HCG Recipes eBook. You also get free support from Dr. Lipman. Additionally, all kits containing HCG with Amino Acids (Superior HCG products) come with Ketone Test Strips, and all kits containing HCG with African Mango also come with a salad dressing spritz bottle.
HCG can be taken in many ways. Since HCG is a natural protein, like insulin and other hormones it cannot be swallowed or come into contact with stomach acid. The acidity of our stomachs, which helps us digest food, will destroy the HCG molecule. Dr. Simeons first used HCG injections to bypass this problem. A few years ago, doctors discovered that HCG could be taken as a sublingual pellet or drops that dissolve when placed under the tongue. All studies have shown no difference in hunger or weight loss when the HCG is taken by injections, pellet or by drops. I recommend the HCG drops. The pellets can be used when traveling or other situations where refrigeration may not be practical. Remember, the HCG drops have to be kept cold. Learn More »

Using Our HCG Products

You can take the drops for up to 6 weeks at a time. The weight loss varies depending on your age, gender, starting weight, height, and recent diet experience. I have personally treated many people who have lost 50, 75 and 100 lbs. I suggest taking potassium, sublingual vitamin B12, and a good multivitamin through the course of the diet. You will find a list of vitamins, potassium and vitamin B 12 preparations and where to buy them in the Quick Start Section found on the next to last page of my 800 Calorie HCG Diet User’s Manual.
You need to hold the drops under your tongue for two minutes and then not eat or drink for 15 minutes.
The majority of people never take the drops out of the home. They should be kept cold and in a dark place like a refrigerator. They will need to be refrigerated while at work or traveling. In transit, an air conditioned car would keep them cool enough for a short journey. If you are traveling for longer than an hour, keep them cool in a cooler or with an ice pack. If you foresee refrigeration being an issue, consider our Potent HCG Pellets
There is a picture of the syringe in the end of the book before the Quick Start Guide. Look at your bottle to see the correct dosage. The half way mark between the numbers 2 and 3 will give you 0.25cc. For 0.5cc, use the line at the number 5 on the syringe. The measurement is made at the top of the plunger.
The sediment is normal. You should not shake the bottle; simply turn it over a few times.
It depends on your schedule. If you take the drops, then shower and dress before eating, that will leave enough time for the drops to get absorbed. Some individuals like to eat first, and take the drops after eating.
I suggest before bedtime so there is less eating surrounding the drops.
Take the additional dose after eating; it’s much easier at this time of the day.
Most people take the drops when they get up from sleep and when they go to sleep. The exact times are not important.
If you run out of Ketone test strips, they are available at most local and chain pharmacies for around $10 a pack.

Questions About the 800 Calorie HCG Diet

There is great controversy over the number of calories to eat to successfully burn fat. The original diet invented in 1954 by Dr. Simeons in Italy was 500 calories. Dr. Lipman introduced the 800 calorie diet about four years ago and found equal results as compared to the original diet. Dr. Lipman has added many products that were not available to Dr. Simeons 60 years ago.
Everyone is different. It depends on many factors including your age, gender, weight, height, how much weight you need to lose and if you have recently dieted. Learn More »
Many times there is a large amount of weight loss in the first week, then a plateau or leveling off of weight loss. This does not mean that your weight loss has stopped. Typically, inches are being lost continuously while on the program, and after a period of time, patients will experience another large drop on the scale. Weight loss is thus achieved in this stair-step fashion.
It is true that normally when cutting back on calories and fat, our body stores fat and our metabolism slows down. This happens because fat is really a life-saving source of stored energy. With my HCG Food plan the lean protein with each meals helps to prevent the slowing of metabolism.
You can lose weight by simple caloric reduction. However you will be faced by a marked reduction in metabolism as your body tries to prevent the weight loss along with a lot of hunger, fatigue and weakness. In addition, you will be burning both healthy and unhealthy fat and protein. With HCG, your body focuses on burning unhealthy fat only.
It is common to feel mild hunger during the first few days. This will pass and by the second week you will find your servings to be satisfying. The high protein and low sugar prevents hunger and reduces appetite and cravings.
You will be eating normal, healthy food that is easy to find at your local grocery store or on any restaurant menu, sometimes with slight modifications. The HCG food plan shows you thumbnail pictures of the best food choices including brands, portions and preparations. In general, the diet restricts carbs and encourages lean, low fat protein, fruits and vegetables. Most vegetables are totally unlimited and there are three fruits a day as well as many snacks.
We encourage the use of high protein bars and shakes, which have zero or almost zero sugar as snack and as meal replacements.
Yes. There are no restrictions on the use of salt, herbs and spices, except for individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Always follow your own physician’s advice. There are only a few seasonings that have any significant salt. Be sure to read the ingredients on any seasonings you use to be sure they don’t contain any added sugar.
Look at the shopping list supplied in both the manual and shopping list card.
While some internet sites forbid alcohol, my experience is that moderate alcohol intake–straight alcohol, alcohol mixed with water or zero calorie drinks, white wine and red wine DO NOT interfere with the HCG diet any more than any other diet. (No beer.) Remember alcohol has calories, slows metabolism and often leads to making food mistakes because its lowers self control. Given these facts, 2 or 3 alcohol based drinks per week, as outlined above, should not interfere with the weight loss. Learn More »
A good multivitamin helps but make sure it is sugar free and has no fat soluble ingredients like fish oils or vitamin D. Potassium is also good, especially if you experience leg cramps. Anyone doing the HCG diet for more than 30 days needs to buy a good multivitamin (I recommend Life’s Fortune), potassium tablets (98 mg), and sublingual vitamin B-12 lozenges. Most can be purchased at pharmacies, like Walgreens, CVS and at most supermarkets. Learn More »
No. You don’t ever want to skip any of your meals. It’s important to eat all of your 800 calories and especially your protein so that you only lose fat and not muscle. Skipping meals leads to hunger, low blood sugar, weakness, and often to making the bad food choices. However, meals can consist of just a protein bar or shake. Learn More »
Do the best you can, if you are cheating once or twice a week, the weight loss will slow down. However, once a month or even twice a month will not affect the weight loss too much. Some cheats are worse than others. A piece of bread has little effect as compared to sugar, rice, pasta, potatoes, cookies, cake which have greater readily available carbs and sugar. Use the event as a good time for a short break from the diet. Learn More »
Yes, exercise is permitted. If you choose to exercise, keep your intensity level mild to moderate. Avoid strenuous activity. If you feel light headed, lower your intensity. Consult with your doctor before starting any exercise or diet program. I would not start a strenuous exercise program at the beginning of the diet if that is not part of your usual lifestyle. Save that exercise after you have been on the diet for a few weeks. Have 70 calorie protein snack before or right after the exercise to avoid the hunger associated with exercise. Learn More »
Keep it light, like walking, Pilate’s, biking, yoga, light resistance training, and dancing. Try to avoid very strenuous exercise. The treadmill and elliptical are acceptable but they should not be overdone. Be sure to keep your intensity level low, and if you feel light headed slow down. Consult with your doctor before starting any exercise or diet program. Learn More »
