Dr. Richard L. Lipman, M.D. is a board certified internist and endocrinologist. For the past 40 years he has treated patients for metabolic disorders and weight problems. Dr. Lipman has spent his entire medical career developing personalized weight loss programs for his patients.

Dr. Lipman has incorporated HCG into the treatment of hundreds of patients with weight loss needs ranging from 10 lbs. to 150 lbs. He has used both injectable HCG as well as oral HCG drops. His experience is that there is no difference in weight loss, hunger, or cravings whether taking the injections or drops. Therefore, he favors the less invasive drops over the injections.

Education and Professional Background

Dr. Lipman received a degree in biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received an MD in 1966 from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society as one of the top five members of his medical class. Dr. Lipman did his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hospitals.

Further postgraduate training included a two-year fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Miami School of Medicine–Jackson Memorial Hospital. While at the University of Miami, he authored and coauthored 15 publications in the areas of glucose and growth hormone metabolism.

Dr. Lipman also spent two years at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, where he was Assistant Chief of Endocrinology, and was a staff member of the Endocrinology Division at the USAF Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. While in the Air Force, Dr. Lipman authored six publications on the effects of prolonged weightlessness on glucose and protein metabolism.

Following his Air Force assignments, Dr. Lipman began his private practice in endocrinology and metabolism in Miami, Florida. For the past 40 years he has focused his endocrinology practice on the treatment of obesity and metabolism-related problems – and has treated over 20,000 individuals with weight problems and endocrine disorders including thyroid and diabetic problems.

Dr. Lipman is a staff member of Larkin and Cedars Hospital in Miami, a charter member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, a member of the American Diabetes Association, and a member of the American Association of Bariatric Physicians.

Over seven years, Dr. Lipman closely followed 375 of his obese patients who, as a group, lost an average of 22 pounds (ranging between 18 and 120 pounds) and kept their weight off for more than two years. His objective was to uncover the factors responsible for their success. This was the largest group of successful weight loss individuals that were treated by the same treating physician as reported in the literature. (All previously reported studies were retrospective reports obtained by questionnaires.) The results were published in April 2007 in the Journal of the American Bariatric Association.
